TRAINERS

OUR POLICY

At Gallop Racing we will only employ the best trainer. Trainers with a track record of getting the very best out of a horse, looking after the best interests of the horse and with an excellent win to run ratio.

This policy means that our initial monthly costs may be higher as the best trainers command higher training fees. However, it is a policy that pays dividends.. poor (cheaper) trainers don’t win very often.

David O’Meara

Ex National Hunt jockey who has set the flat racing training ranks alight with a meteoric rise. From a standing start, David has trained over 500 winners in a 5 year period.

David’s ability to improve horses soon became apparent with horses like Pepper Lane. He took a horse rated in the 50’s and guided her to consecutive big race successes in the Great St Wilfred and a rating well over 100.

… And so it continues, Penitent, discarded as a ‘has been’ by previous connections was rejuvenated and improved by David to enjoy Group 2 success.

David has now proven his ability to train to the highest level with 16 group race successes in the last 4 years, including Group 1’s for Amazing Maria, Move In Time and G Force.

David has recently moved to a new purpose made yard near York. Set in over 100 acres, with a brand new 6 furlong uphill Safetrack gallop manufactured and installed by Andrews Bowen,  Willow Farm is the perfect place to train racehorses.
